We also wish to congratulate those who represented
Richland County at the Ohio State Fair!

We are aware of a few awards given at the state level,including...
Molly Schwall took top in the state - the Clock Trophy - for her self determined project!
Allison Brown earned an Outstanding Ribbon for her Creative Arts work.
Molly Arnold also earned an Outstanding Ribbon for the One to One project.
Tyler Seamen took 9th place in the Novice B Dog Obedience show.
Kayla Pahl placed 2nd  in Easy Gaited Pleasure Riding.
Jen Waseman earned 1st place in Hunter Horse Showmanship for ages 16 through 18.
Mallary Lynch placed 1st in Western Large Pony Showmanship.
Cortney Bisel placed 2nd with her Junior Simmental Beef Yearling.
Andy Sloan placed 2nd for his Hampshire Purebred Wether, 2nd for his Suffolk Purebreed Wether,
3rd and 2nd for additional Market Lambs, and andy ended up with the Reserve Champion Suffolk!

In additon, we noticed awards taken by some Richland County adults at the Ohio State Fair..
Denny Grove and Heather Stoodt for Swine, the Sloan family and Andy for Sheep, Mike Stichler for Poultry, and
Duane Rader for Dairy Cattle. We also saw several under Llama & Alpacas:
Cassie Newton, Dustin Newton, and Chantel Leggett.

The OSU Extension Office for Richland County is located at 1495 West Longview Avenue, Suite 206, Mansfield, OH 44906.  When you visit you will notice the lovely flagpole garden, which was planted and maintained by the Richland County Master Gardeners.  Please see their link in the left column, under County Topics, to find out how you can join! 
(The Master Gardeners also helped build and maintain the Enviromental Garden at the east end of the building,
where there is a water garden and many native Ohio plants.)

Our 4-H Youth Development section contains 4-H newsletters and many other youth and advisor related pages: you will find that link in the left side column.  For those interested in joining 4-H here in Richland County, please feel free to contact our office at 419-747-8755 for assistance in finding the perfect club for your family!
 
There are also multiple timely and cost saving listings in the left hand column for Agriculture and Horticulture, with many individualized folders including field crops, cattle, dairy, woodlands, organics, and sports turf. In addition the Family and Consumer Sciences folder is now available, with multiple links for financial, health, and home life experitise.

We are also excited to now offer the eXtension program, which gives you access to Extension experts across Ohio and other states, as they join.  eXtension offers several modes of interaction with the experts, along with providing up-to-date information on topics including Agriculture, Horticulture, and Consumer Sciences.  The eXtension access button is in our left hand column.

In addition, please feel free to use the Ohioline connection, under External Resources, in the right side column, to search the extensive research publications of the Ohio State University Extension! You will also notice the State Extension News in our righthand column, for quick reference to state training activities and recent Extension information releases .Also, if you need additional information from any other extension office in Ohio, just hover your curser over the map (to the left) until you locate the county you need.  Than just click on the county and you will be redirected to their Extension home page!
